KLRS is excited to welcome Jaymie Campbell to the Station for her two-week Kluane National Park Artist Residency!
Jaymie is an Anishnaabe artist and writer from Curve Lake First Nation and currently resides in British Columbia.
Jaymie is the designer behind White Otter Design Co, which incorporates traditional artistry techniques with contemporary and personal style. She aims to explore connection to land and culture through beadwork, writing, fashion and visual arts. She strives to use authentic materials, sourcing from communities and knowledge keepers. It is important also to learn traditional skills in order to use them in her work and pass them down to future generations. Her work is inspired by her Anishnaabe roots, the land and her family.

June 7, 1–3pm, Mät’àtäna Män (Kathleen Lake) Day-Use Area
Join Artist in Residence Jaymie Campbell for a workshop on plant sketching — the beginning stages for the creation of beadwork patterns. How can we get to know a plant, and how does that translate into art making? Spend some time reflecting and sketching with guided prompts and through sharing at beautiful Mät’àtäna Män. Learn more about the connections we can make by spending time with nature. All materials provided — just bring your creative energy, clothes for the weather, and comfortable footwear.
June 12, 7pm, Kluane Lake Research Station
Join Artist in Residence Jaymie Campbell to learn about her journey as an artist. She will talk about her relationship to the materials that she works with — moosehide, quills, beads and the inspiration that comes from ancestral teachings and the land. She will share examples of her work and different materials that visitors can interact with.
The Kluane National Park Artist Residency is presented in partnership with Parks Canada and Yukon Arts Centre.
